Mabel & Friends Day Retreat is a home away from home. Our team is made up entirely of high qualified and experienced dog lovers, so when your dogs visit us they become part of our family for a day. Our priority is providing an environment that’s comfortable, safe and stimulating, so they go home with their tails wagging.
Pampering for your pooch
What sets us apart is our comprehensive offering of services, all available under one roof. We are the only Day Care in the area to have been awarded a “Higher Standards” Licence – meaning you have the comfort that we really do provide the best service to your pooch. Being a member of Mabel & Friends not only gives you access to the best equipped dog day care in the area, but all the extra little touches that make each visit extra special – from free nail clipping when you’re booked in for a full day, to free seminars and workshops for pawrents throughout the year. Free monthly events and Pawties, and weekly Saturday play days.
Each day is structured so that our guests get the most out of their time with us. Our schedule strikes the perfect balance between engaging play and downtime, making sure that our guests have a chance to relax and catch their breath between all the excitement.
All our events included in the membership offer the opportunity for your best friends to socialise and develop their individual characters whilst their pawrents can also socialise with refreshments and chats.

Luxury dog retreat
Mabel & Friends is home to a generously sized and excellently equipped day centre that features a wealth of indoor and outdoor activity space. We have over 2,600 sq ft of secure indoor space and over half an acre of secure grassed area outdoors, meaning there’s more than enough space for our guests to sniff out and explore while they play and stretch their legs.
We have a fully qualified team that operates on a maximum staff:dog ratio of 1:8. This ensures that they’re able to deliver a high standard of care across the board, and keeps levels of attention consistent across all of our guests. We also have a good understanding of the specialist care of Brachycephalic breeds including Pug, English and French Bulldog, Boxer, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Boston Terrier, Shih Tzu and Lhasa Apso.

Richard absolutely loves his visits to Mabel and Friends. Even as an older dog (11 years) he can’t wait to get through the door to see what friends he has to play with each time. The staff are all so knowledgeable and attentive, and can recognise when Richard needs a cuddle or just some quiet time away from the more energetic dogs.
Mabel and Friends has given him a new lease of life thanks to the stimulating play and socialisation he receives when he’s there – and he comes home so content that he often sleeps for hours when he gets into his own bed.
A highlight of Richard’s visits are his grooming appointments. Jess is amazing, and Richard comes out looking and smelling wonderful. It saves me so much time to be able to book him in with Jess at the end of a morning day care session when he needs a tidy up.
I bring Richard here because it’s a chance for him to play and learn and be around other dogs. But it has become more than that…even as the old man of the pack, he is treated like he’s part of a second crazy family, and he loves it. xx
I’ve just introduced my two rescue girls, Posie and Sadie, to the incredible Mabel & Friends, and it’s been nothing short of amazing! While my partner and I have the luxury of working from home, we realized our girls were getting a bit bored and needed some furry companions of their own. So, we decided to give Mabel & Friends a try, and from the moment we walked in, we knew we had found something special. Meg was so knowledgeable and made us feel instantly at ease after a not-so-great experience at a previous daycare. She gave us a thorough tour, introduced us to all the friendly faces, and showed us the amazing facilities. The girls came back the next day for their trial, and today, they had their first half-day. We could watch them on the cameras, zooming around, snuggling, and just having the time of their lives. And the cherry on top? The adorable doggy report we get at the end of the day, showing just how much fun they had!
From the very first step into Mabel & Friends, we knew our girls were in the best hands. The ladies there are pure sunshine, radiating love and care for every dog they look after. Even after just three visits, Posie and Sadie are so excited when we pull up—they can’t wait to get inside! Leaving my dogs used to give me so much anxiety, but now, I’m confident that they’re being adored beyond measure. Thank you ladies!
he always comes back home clean and as someone who finishes work at 5:30 it’s such a lifesaver that they’re open until 6:00pm! Absolutely loving how professional they are and seeing pictures of him throughout the day is so lovely!

You can sign up to become a member of Mabel & Friends and book a service through our online portal.
A membership gives you full access to all of our services, which you’ll be able to book on our website.
We are in a countryside location between Hatfield Peverel and Terling, just 10 minutes from the A12 and 5 minutes from J20A and J20B.
We are open 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday, closed on bank holidays.
